Rare Shades Events
Rare Shades is a celebration of Porsches in Paint to Sample or rarely seen colors. This casual but carefully curated and structured three-hour event is the brainchild of 000 Magazine co-founders Alexander Palevsky and Pete Stout, who recognized increasing interest in Porsche’s sports cars as design objects as well as in its Paint to Sample (PTS) program..
For nearly 70 years, PTS has allowed customers to order their Porsches in something outside of the normal color offerings—or a hue matched to a sample provided by the customer. Each Porsche selected for display at Rare Shades is personally curated by 000 and PTSRS.
914: The Mid-Century Modern Porsche, examined the influence of the mid-century modernism movement on the design and execution of the Porsche 914.

The Science of Color, a panel discussion held in conjunction with the kick-off party for Rare Shades 4, investigated how and why the human brain processes color, and how that process influences each individual’s personal preferences for specific Porsche paint colors.

914 on 9/14 brought together several key individuals who have been closely involved with the rich history of the Porsche 914 to discuss the importance of the iconic model as it celebrated its 50th anniversary.

With Porsche Bookends 1, 000 curated a personal tour—led by editor-in-chief Pete Stout—of three pairs of hand-selected Porsche models (1967 911S Targa & 2017 911 Targa 4, 1970 914-4 & 2004 Carrera GT, 1981 924 Carrera GTS & 1993 968 Turbo S).
